YTT2 Collection from our 200 hour Modules

YTT2: ANATOMY + PHYSIOLOGY

  • 3. Biomechanics with Sara. BREATH and the Core Unit. PLEASE listen and see journal prompt PLUS reference LINKS in video description. HOMEWORK: Use a resource such as an anatomy coloring book or web search to familiarize yourself with the muscles and structures of the deep core, including Transversus Abdominis, the muscles of the deep pelvic floor, the lumbar multifidi, the diaphragm, and also the thoracolumbar fascia. Study their location, orientation of the fibers, and actions. 1.5 hr, YTT2.

  • Koshas : Review, Questions + Asana with Christina. 1 hr, YTT2. (see MODULE 5, SECTION 3, YTT4 for the homework attached to this class)

  • 2. Pran(A)natomy: The 5 Vayus with Chrissy. ASSIGNMENT: Create a physical representation of the 5 vayus (digital, by hand or otherwise!) and upload to the media folder. 1 hr YTT2.

  • 3. Biomechanics with Sara. 90 mins, YTT2. Video 4: Anatomy and Mechanics of the Abdominals and Pelvic Floor

    • **Warning: the anatomy of the pelvic floor muscles will be discussed in detail. There will be plenty of warning and lead-in, in order for those who wish to skip that section due to trauma, triggering, or discomfort, to pause and fast forward.

    • Homework, 1 hr YTT4: CREATE and practice your own flow or vinyasa of ~5 asana with focus on engaging bandhas and utilizing/cuing core. Be mindful that the degree of engagement/activation is proportional to the workload. (For example, a supine twist requires much less core engagement than Chaturanga dandasana, and maintaining an asana may require less core engagement than transitioning into/out of that posture)… SUBMIT video of sequence or notes to the media album here.

  • 3. Biomechanics with Sara, Class 5. 90 minutes, YTT2. Glutes and Selected Accessory core/pelvic muscles. ASSIGNMENT: journal about the experience of the single leg stance and hip hinge exercises. Experiment approaching them with more and less focus on core/bandha engagement, and how that does or doesn't change the sensation of work or effort for you. Compare left and right sides and contemplate any differences you find in your own body, draw any possible connections to your own body's history, if any.

  • 2. PART 2 Studying the Brain // Mind with Chrissy. 30 mins, YTT2. REFERENCES: Buddha’s Brain Key Points: by Rick Hanson, plus his website and www.loveyourbrain.com is an excellent TBI source, but also offers free meditations for all!

  • 3. Mini-Series with Chrissy and some 300 hr students! These series are 4-parts, 30 mins each. They operate as stand alone classes or comprehensive 4-packs. Find the ones dedicated to ANATOMY (ie “core” “head, neck + shoulders”) and watch 1 or all 4 classes! HOMEWORK: Create a 30 minute class dedicated to a specific part of the human anatomy (physical or energetic). Submit the sequence or your notes in picture, drawings, words or video to the YTT MEDIA ALBUM HERE: videos and assignment = 1.5 hours, YTT2.

  • 3. Biomechanics with Sara. Selected Asana Variations: Cues and modifications.... 2.5 hrs, YTT2. Homework: Create and teach (to the pets or plants is fine!) a vinyasa while incorporating various alignment/engagement cues to support a specific intention for your class. Record and watch it for visual and auditory feedback. Journal on your experience, and feel free to zoom out and journal (and share!) about what you have taken away from this biomechanics series. You can post a video to the drive here or share a summary in the comments below the youtube link!

  • 2. CHOOSE an ANATOMICAL SYSTEM (physical) like the digestive, respiratory, nervous, circulatory, reproductive, etc etc. And RESEARCH. 1 hr, YTT2. CREATE a sequence of postures and practices based off of this research and PRACTICE TEACH either to yourself, online or with another person. SUBMIT your class plan to Chrissy via email along with questions about sequencing and/or cuing. 2 hrs, YTT4.
